St Colmcilles Storm Into Leinster Junior Final After Dominant Display in Piltown

Leinster Junior Ladies Football Semi-Final

Venue: Piltown | Date: Saturday, October 25th, 2025

Final Score: St Colmcilles (Meath) 5-11 • Killeshin (Laois) 0-07

St Colmcilles senior ladies booked their place in the Leinster Junior Final with a superb all-round performance in Piltown, overcoming Laois champions Killeshin in emphatic fashion.

The opening ten minutes were tightly contested as both sides worked to settle into the rhythm of the game. Killeshin struck first with a fine point from Cara English, but Colmcilles responded immediately and decisively when Saibhdh Collins finished clinically to the back of the net after a sweeping team move.

That early goal injected confidence into the seasiders, who pressed forward against a strong breeze. Their persistence paid off as they broke through the Killeshin defence two more times, with Alannah Boland and Natalie Davitt both raising green flags to give Cilles a strong foothold.

At the other end, the Colmcilles defence stood firm during a sustained Killeshin purple patch. Saoirse McPeake was particularly impressive, cutting out danger and denying any chance of a Laois goal. Some fine points from Shannon Cleary helped stretch the lead before the break, leaving the seasiders in control on a 3-04 to 0-04 scoreline.

The second half saw St Colmcilles continue to dominate, showcasing stylish attacking play and relentless defensive organisation. The introduction of Tara Shortt added further energy and stability, ensuring Killeshin found no way through.

Cilles finished the game in emphatic fashion, with Éilish Keenan making an instant impact off the bench to contribute 1-1. A superb long-range free from Caoimhe McPeake — the kind that would count for two in the men’s game capped off a near perfect team performance.
