Under 14 Division 1 Feile Championship
Trim 0-7 V St Colmcilles 6 -11
Trim was the Venue last night for the much anticipated Under 14 Feile Championship replay between Trim and St Colmcilles. After snatching a draw the last day from the claws of defeat with 2 late points our Under 14′s were hoping to make sure that they reached the Feile Final, and St Colmcilles second successive Feile Final in 2 years. On the night our Under 14′s put up a bold show and particularly in the second half were they dismantled the boys from Trim in quite ruthless fashion.
The opening quarter saw Trim probably play the better football. St Colmcilles did however open the scoring with a goal from James McInerney but Trim took it all in there stride and responded with 2 fine points of there own courtesy of there number 8 and number 13. St Colmcilles duly hit back with a fine team score when James Conlon ending the move with a wonderful point to increase the lead to 2 points. Back came Trim however and again there number 8 scored a wonderful point to reduce it once more to a 1 point game. The game was ebbing and flowing now and Jack Bohan latched on to a great ball from Daragh Brodigan before he duly dispatched to the net to increase the St Colmcilles lead to 4 points.

James Conlon. The "Banty" was in elusive form last evening against Trim. Impossible to pin down he tormented Trim, scoring 8 wonderful points in the process
Two goals in the opening quarter would do many teams but Trim dug in and another free this time from their centre half forward reduced the margin to 3 points before a free from the dangerous number 12 for Trim reduced the margin once more back to a 2 point game. James Conlon and Daragh Brodigan were now catching the eye. There powerful play at times was a joy to watch and it was young Conlon with 2 quick fire points, one from a free when he was brought down saw St Colmcilles restore a 4 point margin. Trim however were not going to buckle just yet and just before the half time whistle reduced the margin to 3 points courtesy of the number 8 who was showing the supporters his art of kicking fine points from open play. Half Time score Trim 0-6 St Colmcilles 2-3
If the first half was close with Trim hanging in, the second half was an altogether different story. The boys from East Meath treated us to a real scoring feast and some wonderful football to boot. James McInerney started the 2nd half like he did the first and opened the scoring feast with his second goal. Conor O’Byrne and James Conlon then scored two wonderful points before Daragh Brodigan’s dominance saw him waltz though the Trim defence and hammer the ball to the Trim net to increase the lead to 11 points. Trim did respond with a point from the number 7 who came up to score a nice point from wing half back. However it was to be Trim’s last score as St Colmcilles went into overdrive.

Eoin Sweeney. Our Under 14 Full back has a big future. His form for the Colaiste when the won the Leinster Schools Title has continued through Feile and was simply in outstanding form against Trim
First James Conlon fired over 3 wonderful points in a row, with the last being out of the top drawer before Daragh Brodigan now at full forward raced onto another fine pass before toe poking it at the second attempt to the back of the Trim net to open up a 16 point lead. Two more points, separated by another wonderful goal from Daragh Brodigan left the gap between the sides at 23 points. This was the final action of the match as Eamon Barry blew the final whistle to send St Colmcilles to the Under Feile Final for the 2nd year in succession . An incredible achievement in itself. Final score Trim 0-7 V St Colmcilles 6-11
This was a wonderful team performance. Young Paul Beakey was great in goals, whilst Eoin Sweeney was simply outstanding at full back. At midfield Daragh Brodigan was outstanding as well, fielding high ball and his power packed running a joy to watch. Up front James McInerney always posed a threat whilst James Conlon displayed all the fine arts. On the night the “Banty” pulled the strings and scored 8 wonderful points as he toyed and tormented the Trim defence.
